Johnstone Bay is located just southeast
of Seward, accessible by plane or boat.
This land is spectacular... a must see.
The bay is anchored by two massive rocks
and between lies a two mile long sandy
beach. Some of the best halibut fishing
in the state is just offshore, not to
mention humpback whales, porpoise, seals,
a variety of salmon, and a great beach
for surfing due to the glacial silt deposit!
Take your small boat up the river a bit
to a protected anchorage, or a flat bottom
boat further up to the lake. This property
is flat and ready to build. Three sides
of the property are National Forest, and
the fourth is a freshwater creek, just
down a ten foot bank (the creek is slowly
eating away at the other side of the bank,
so erosion is not an issue).
The trees are all a rainforest, and
the moss is several feet thick in spots...
it makes you want to lay down and nap!
You can easily walk through the trees
to the lake, which is sometimes filled
with ice calved from the massive Excelsior
Glacier. To say that this is amazing kayaking
is an understatement.
The wildlife is diverse and plentiful,
so bring some protection and use standard
backcountry safety practices. There is
but one small building in the whole valley,
and it's a 10'x10' roughed in cabin on
this property, stocked with provisions
(emergency and camping). In my 30 years
in Alaska, this is the most beautiful
place I've seen...
I regret having to part with it, but
my twin babies force my hand.
Offered at $55,000.- for
this choice property.
