The Gateway to the Wrangell St. Elias National Park and of course, the largest salmon dip net fishery in the state, for Kings and the world famous “Copper River Red Salmon”.  Quite an experience if you have never done it.

The Hotel is located right on the main road (Main Street) into town.  Chitina itself is a quaint community with a rich historic past from the old copper mining days of the early 19th century.  Not much has changed and the buildings all show their rich historic heritage.  Definitely a tourist attraction and well worth a visit.

The Hotel (circa 1900) itself is one of the rebuilt historic buildings, very tastefully done and it is the only place that has a full dispensary liquor license, wine and beer license, full kitchen, dining facility (with great meals being served) and the whole upstairs offers 11 nicely appointed rooms with bath and queen size beds in an early 1900 motif.

The owner is still in the process of finishing the saloon at the back of the building and the basement to accommodate larger groups.   This little start up business is doing quite well and actually shows an increase in business over the last few years, including the 2009 season.  So reputation goes a long way, as the owner does very little to no advertising.

This business is a bit much for the widowed owner as it really needs a young, energetic couple to finish what has been started and to continue the successful operation in a life style only Alaska can offer.  Bank financing may be available to a person with stellar credit and experience in this field with a minimum of 50% down payment.
