This property is located
in the Wrangell - St. Elias Park &
Preserve. This area is called the "Mountain
Kingdom" of North America and is
the largest National Park in the Nation!
This spectacular wilderness includes the
continent's largest assembly of glaciers
and mountain peaks over 16,000', including
the 18,000' Mt. St. Elias, which is the
2nd highest mountain in the
U.S. with the tallest one being Mt. McKinley.
One may ask what makes a
place like this one so special? Well,
here you can do a life time of back country
exploring, climbing mountains, fish the
rivers and lakes, hike a glacier, fly
over volcanoes, see rare birds, bears,
moose, caribou, wolves or take pictures
of this magnificent scenery and wildlife.
This property happens to
be a rare find and truly a jewel, as from
here one can explore endless miles of
Park land. Copper Lake is about a 6 mile
long lake and I was told there is only
one other private parcel on the lake.
So this is truly a place for the environmentalist,
naturalist and explorer, as you will never
run out of things to do.
The 6 handcrafted buildings
on the property have been used to some
extent just for that, as well as winter
shelter for exploring the country by dog
sled, cross country skies or snowshoes.
This is a remote corner of the world where
you will seldom see another human being.
And it may be the perfect place to keep
it as a "Private Retreat" or
one may want to explore the opportunity
of building it into a 1st Class
Facility to share the beauty of the land
with others.
There is one main structure,
24' x 36', and 3 additional cabins, each
16' x 20' and 2 cabins of 12' x 14'. All
of it is basically furnished with beds,
tables, stoves, cooking utensils and propane
lights. Access to this piece of paradise
would be by plane, floats or skis, dog
team or on foot.
This is a property one
definitely has to see and experience!
The price is $600,000.- which is a small
token of the true value.
Copper lake is the only lake where the
Kokanee (fresh water salmon) are natural.
The lake also has trophy fishing for lake
trout, large grayling, burbot, white fish
and the red salmon migrate to spawn in
the lake.
The hills above the lake have a good
population of Dall Sheep. The caribou
winter in this area. I seen around 500
today.
