A good 4½ hour drive north easterly of Anchorage is where you will find the quaint little
settlement of Chitina. This place is
often called the Gateway to the Wrangell St. Elias National Park, which is
bordering the area to the north and east.
It is also a very popular place for the salmon dip net fishery on the Copper River for the much sought after catch of the
“Copper River Red and King Salmon”. Naturally you have wild life such as moose and bear throughout the area.
This is a place where it seems as if time is standing still, as many
buildings are still there from the old times when the Copper River Railroad and
the Kennicott area were at their peaks for copper mining during the turn of the
century.
We received these properties as an Estate Sale and nobody seems to know
about their exact location, what is on them or not, the suitability for
building, access, etc., although there are platted access easements to the
properties. So it is strictly buyer to
inspect, check it out and make sure the properties are suitable for your needs.
But with that being said, the prices are
about the lowest one can find in that area. And if one wants to play the investor game, the Estate would give a
“Hell of a Discount” if one would buy all of it together. Otherwise, adjoining lots will be sold
together and any and all transactions have to be "Cash Only".
So here is your chance to buy into the old
Chitina Townsite for an affordable price.
